This listing is for 10 mermaid style human hair dreadlock extensions, approximately 50cm / 20” long and 7mm wide. They feature a built-in loop at the top, allowing them to be braided in for temporary wear or they can be permanently crocheted in.

Our gorgeous mermaid locs made from quality human hair. A loop is built into the top if you wish to braid these into undreaded hair or alternatively, the loop can be cut off if you wish to use these to lengthen existing dreadlocks.
INCLUSIONS: 10 x Individual dreadlock extensions.
SIZE/LENGTH: Approximately 50cm/20in in total length, half of which is dreaded and the other half is undreaded. 7mm in thickness.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The mermaid tails feature a semi permanent curl which will straighten and become more wave like with each shampoo, however, they can be re curled using heat tools. It is normal for the dreaded part of the extension to be a little stiff initially but in time and with wear, they will be softer and more flexible.
Combing the mermaid tails gently with your fingers daily and the use of Dread Empire Conditioning Spray as needed will keep them hydrated and tangle free.
INSTALLATION: If braiding in, take a section of your own hair and pull it through the loop. Our Latch Hook is an excellent tool to use to pull sections of undreaded hair through the loop. Move the extension up to the scalp, split the section of your own hair in two and install with a blanket stitch braid. Secure the braid with either Nylon Extension Thread or Pro Elastics.

QUALITY, CARE & LIFESPAN: Our dreadlocks are hand crocheted using hair which is on average 9-10" long. More hair is added to build the length as we work our way down the dreadlock which is a common dreadlock extension making technique. Just like your own dreaded hair, they will mature in time and with wear and will become a little more flexible. Also just like your own dreads, it's normal for loose hairs to escape with wear, particularly after shampooing and occasional maintenance maybe required by using a crochet hook to pull any escapees back into the dreadlock. Palm rolling regularly with downward pressure will help shape the dread and avoid excessive shrinking.
Human hair extensions can become more dehydrated than your natural hair, especially the lighter shades which have undergone more extensive processing. Combing the mermaid tails gently with your fingers daily and the use of Dread Empire Conditioning Spray as needed will keep them hydrated and tangle free. Avoid using oils and heavy conditioners in the mermaid tails as this can cause them to become matted and knotty.
While hair stylists typically give regular human hair extensions a lifespan of around 12 months, the care and maintenance you provide will ultimately determine their longevity. Some of our customers have continued wearing our extensions for a couple of years with the right upkeep.
COLOUR & TONING: We do not recommend dying or toning our Human Hair Mermaid locs but should you wish to pursue this, please read this section carefully.
Achieving consistent results can be challenging with any human hair extensions, especially Mermaid Locs due to the previous colour processing, chemical sanitation and curling process involved in their production.
Purple toners and shampoos can be quite drying and whilst generally, this is not an issue for the dreaded part, the deterioration of the undreaded mermaid tails may become evident. It’s important to use a highly moistourising purple toner and if necessary, ensure further conditioning is applied after toning.
Please also note that the chemicals in some hair colours can break down the small amount of hair extension glue inserted at the bottom of the dreaded part to stop the tails from shedding. If you do proceed with colour/toning, we recommend you use a fine needle to insert a small amount of glue into the end of the dreaded part after colouring.
Always test any colouring or toning on one dreadlock first to ensure you are happy with the results before proceeding.
** Dreadlocks which have been altered with toners or colour treatments are not eligible for return.

Returns
Softness / Flexibility
We crochet fairly tightly to minimise maintenance and maximise longevity. In time and with wear, the dreadlocks will mature and evolve becoming somewhat more flexible and softer.
Review
We recommend reviewing your dreadlocks on arrival to make sure you're happy with the colour, look and feel. You can even shampoo one dreadlock to gain a clearer understanding of how they behave and wear.

Damaged Items / Change of Mind
We accept returns when they are arranged within 30 days of receiving your order.
To be eligible for a return:
- Items must be in their original condition, unused, and unaltered
- Returns must be approved before being sent back
How to Arrange a Return
Please email contact@dreadlocks.com.au within 30 days of receiving your order to arrange your return. Returns sent without prior approval may not be accepted. Once your return is accepted, please ensure it it is sent back within 7 days of acceptance.
Return Shipping
Return shipping costs for 'Change of Mind' are the responsibility of the customer
If the return is due to an error on our part (e.g. faulty or incorrect item), we will cover the return shipping costs
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, refunds will be processed within 5 business days. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method.
Redelivery - (Incorrect Address / Non-Collection / Lost)
In the event we have been given an incorrect mailing address or the package is not collected, we are happy to resend your order to another address if/when it is returned to us. A redelivery fee will apply which will be the actual shipping cost, no admin restocking fees will be charged.
Lost in Transit
Occasionally, delays may occur. If your parcel has not arrived 10 business days after the estimated delivery date, we can escalate the matter with Australia Post for investigation. Depending on the outcome, we will either resend your order or issue a refund.
