Full Description
Our handcrafted dreadlocks are made from high quality human hair and each piece starts out neat and uniform, then softens and settles over time, taking on a more natural, lived in look that blends beautifully with your own locs.
They are designed to permanently extend your existing locs. If you prefer to wear them temporarily, they can also be braided in. This can be achieved by blunting one end, then push a thick needle through the top of the extensions to create a small loop, allowing them to be braided securely in place.
INCLUSIONS: 10 Individual crocheted human hair dreadlock extensions.
LENGTH/SIZE: Our dreadlocks are approximately 40-45cm/16-17.7" long which includes their tapered off, wispy ends and they are approximately 6mm wide.
ENDS: We are gradually transitioning our range so that all dreadlocks come with both ends open and loose, as this is the preferred style for easy attachment. If the colour you’ve selected is still in stock with one blunt end and one open/loose end, that version will be sent. If you’d prefer both ends open, just leave a comment and we’ll make sure to send both ends loose instead.
DYING & TONING: Human hair dreadlocks can be dyed, however, due to chemical sanitation, colouring and the hair originating from various sources, it can be difficult to achieve consistent results. We therefore, recommend a colour specialist is consulted.
Our Blonde dreadlocks also respond well to purple shampoo if you wish to neutralise the yellow base colour. Use purple shampoo only as needed and ensure it is rinsed out well. Dying or using purple products may lead to increased dehydration of the hair so additional conditioning may be necessary.
QUALITY, CARE & LIFESPAN: Our dreadlocks are hand crocheted using hair which is on average 9-10" long. More hair is added to build the length as we work our way down the dreadlock which is a common dreadlock extension making technique. Just like your own dreaded hair, they will mature in time and with wear, taking on a more organic shape and becoming a little softer and more flexible. Also just like your own dreads, it's normal for loose hairs to escape with wear, particularly after shampooing and occasional maintenance maybe required by using a crochet hook to pull any escapees back into the dreadlock. Palm rolling regularly with downward pressure will help shape the dread and avoid excessive shrinking.
Human hair extensions can become more dehydrated than your natural hair, especially the lighter shades. To keep them nourished, we recommend using Dread Empire's Conditioning Spray or Quench Conditioning Oils as needed. While hair stylists typically give regular human hair extensions a lifespan of around 12 months, the care and maintenance you provide will ultimately determine their longevity. Some of our customers have continued wearing our extensions for a couple of years with the right upkeep.
CUSTOM ORDERS: If we don't have the colour or size to suit your needs, please email contact@dreadlocks.com.au with your requirements for a quote on a custom order.
